A Treasure to Be Discovered

Last week my beautician showed me a pocketbook that she bought at Goodwill. There was nothing distinguishing about it, as a matter of fact, she said that it wasn’t even in the pocketbook section – someone had picked it up and just cast it aside. There was no gold or silver on the outside; only the inside zipper seemed to be gold. For some reason she bought it, even though it was not her style. It was “heavy” and seemed like genuine leather – “I’ll give it to my granddaughter”, she thought. One day while in her shop, she noticed some very faint writing on the bag and looked closer. She googled the name of the designer (which I’ve forgotten) and found a picture of her bag. It was worth $1400.00. The website gave all the indications to determine its authenticity. A treasure find!
That may be your story; it sure is mine. You don’t glitter; no bling bling. There may be nothing distinguishing about you – at least not visibly. You may have been picked up a few times and thought not worthy even to be placed back in the position you were found. You found yourself left in a different place – unfamiliar to you. But take heart, my sister, my brother. There is someone coming along this year. They may not know what it is, but they will know that there is something special about you. You may not shine on the outside, but your treasure shows on the inside. They will recognize that you are weighty with substance. They may not even intend to make it a “forever”, but because they are smart and have value themselves, they will begin to recognize your value and will invest the time to look deeper. They will discover that you were created by the original Designer. He or she will recognize that they have found a treasure and will wear you on their arm proudly, while winking at those who thought you were only a bargain. THIS IS THE YEAR!!

p.s. Don’t sit around waiting to be discovered. Excavate and enjoy your own treasure within.
